Welcome to The Arc!

We know that you have goals for what you want to do in your life.

The Arc is here to help you.

What The Arc Does

Our chapters around the country provide information and training.

Our chapters also provide services to people.

We help people find jobs, find their next home, and go to school.

We also do other things to help people achieve their goals.

We advocate for the civil and human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).

We support the full inclusion of people with I/DD in their community.

Advocate With Us and Join Our National Council of Self-Advocates

People with disabilities run the National Council of Self-Advocates.

People with disabilities lead the Council.

People with disabilities are members of the Council.

The National Council of Self Advocates is an advisory council.

The Council advises The Arc on its advocacy, programs, and services.

The Council tells The Arc how it can better support people with disabilities.

The Council tells The Arc about important issues to people with disabilities.

You can join the Council by filling out this form.

The Importance of Self-Advocacy: From China to The Arc’s National Convention

Each year, we award advocacy scholarships to passionate self-advocates.

These scholarships bring people to our national convention. At our convention, scholarship winners meet other advocates and learn more about advancing disability rights.

One of our 2019 scholarship winners, Holly, shares her story about her experience.
